I've been looking for skinny jeans for a while, but for a small girl, I have really muscular legs, and I always end up looking like my calves are about to burst the seams. So I found myself, a girl with not a single pair of fashionable skinny jeans, with a few pairs of flare legged jeans I never wear, because they were too short (not dragging the ground = too short when it comes to me and flares) Since skinny jeans shouldn't be as long, I thought I'd give refashioning my flares into skinny jeans a try.
Here's the before pictures for the 2 pairs I did:
I turned them inside out, pinned them up the way I wanted them to fit, then stitched them up, leaving me with these:
They are both a little too long, but that's been a problem with all the ones I've tried on in the store too. I may hem them later, or I may just wear boots over them so it doesn't matter.
great post. Question, did you stitch up the side seams or right beside the side seams? I want to do this with some jeans of my daughters.
ReplyDeleteFabricFloozie, I did one simple straight stich up the inside of the legs where I had pinned, just to mark my spot so I could turn them right side out and check to be sure they fit well ( when you pin them inside out, the legs will be reversed, so if your legs differ, you really want to do this) once I verified, I went back with a more heavy duty stich on the inside of the legs, and cut off the excess. It's not as pretty and finished on the inside as store bought jeans, but who looks at the inside of my jeans?
ReplyDeletelol, that is really VERY clever! Just think of all the girls out there purging all of their boot/wide/straight-legged jeans just to follow this new trend! DIY, LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI love this! My daughter will thank you!
ReplyDeletegreat job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I've wanted a pair of skinny jeans but can't get myself to buy any-I guess I just need to make my own.
